ASFP puts spotlight on large scale installation/project nominees
The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) has provided more details on the finalists for its 2024 Passive Fire Protection (PFP) Awards.
The winners will be announced at the ASFP Passive Fire Protection Awards Dinner at the Athena Hotel in Leicester on 28 November.
For the Best Large Scale Installation/Project of the Year, the nominees are:
- CLM Fireproofing: Recognised for its work on 40 Leadenhall Street in London. This 37-storey development features a range of commercial spaces, with CLM Fireproofing delivering high safety standards and compliant fire protection installations.
- Golden Thread Fire Delay: Nominated for the design and installation of passive fire protection systems at Canada Water Plot A01. This 35-story building in London includes both commercial and residential spaces, showcasing Golden Thread Fire Delay’s expertise.
- LDD Construction: Acknowledged for the installation of fire protection systems at Powergate, a 96MW Hyperscale Data Centre campus in North Acton, London. This project highlights LDD Construction’s capability in handling large-scale and technically demanding installations.
Details on small scale installation/project finalists
In the Best Small Scale Installation/Project of the Year category, the finalists are:
- The Encon Group: For supplying Promat Promatect 250 fire protection boards for a 3,116m2 mezzanine floor at the Global Sports Team Headquarters in Milton Keynes. This project exemplifies Encon Group’s commitment to quality and safety.
- Novus Property Solutions: For its ongoing collaboration with Platform Housing Group, delivering approximately £3.5m of passive fire protection works annually since 2018. Novus’s consistent performance and dedication to safety standards are noteworthy.
- Ventro Fire Compliance: For its door installation programme at Pennard Court, a 35-unit mixed/assisted living scheme in Bath operated by LiveWest. Ventro’s work ensures that the fire protection needs of vulnerable residents are met with precision and care.
Innovations in passive fire protection
The Passive Fire Innovation of the Year category features both project and digital innovations. The project finalists are:
- ARC Building Solutions: For TCB Square, a unique cavity fire barrier developed to address the challenges of cavity barrier specification around pipe penetrations in timber frame constructions. This innovation enhances safety in a critical aspect of building design.
- Knauf Insulation: For Rocksilk® RainScreen FFCB, a cavity barrier made from rock mineral wool designed to be face-fixed to Rocksilk® RainScreen Slab as the masonry façade is constructed. This product represents a significant advancement in passive fire protection materials.
- Tremco: For the Nullifire FZ100 Fire Safe Zone, a fire compartment reinstatement solution for penetrating services within off-site/modular construction. Tremco’s innovation offers a practical and effective approach to maintaining fire safety in modern construction methods.
In the digital innovations category, the nominees are:
- CLM Fireproofing: For its BIM Plugin, which utilises 3D models to capture, explore, and maintain consistent and coordinated planning, design, construction, operational, and technical data. This tool aids in developing comprehensive passive fire strategies for buildings and assets.
- Checkmate Fire Solutions: For the CheckMyFireDoor app, a self-help fire door inspection application designed to encourage rigorous inspection regimes meeting the requirements for High Risk Buildings under the Building Safety Act. This app facilitates compliance and enhances safety practices.
- Hempel UK: For HEET Dynamic (Hempel Engineering & Estimation Technology), an advanced PFP estimation software solution that speeds up calculations for intumescent coatings applications on steel sections while maintaining industry standards. This software improves efficiency and accuracy in fire protection planning.
ASFP awards dinner promises exciting evening
The ASFP Awards Dinner will honour exceptional accomplishments within the passive fire protection industry.
The event will feature a canapé reception, a three-course dinner, a stage show with aerial acrobatics and professional dance troupes, fairground attractions, an after-dinner disco, and comedy entertainment.
