NEBOSH bursary winners announced for 2026

NEBOSH has announced the twenty recipients of the 2026 NEBOSH L’Oréal International Bursary: Enabling women in health and safety.

The bursary is run in partnership with L’Oréal and covers paid-for study and assessment fees for the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety for twenty women based internationally.

The 2026 winners are Lisa Mangwende, Leocadie Offukoh, Anastasia Mbagwu, Gladys Israel, Ana Zarir Fatikha Anwar, Iyanuoluwa Ayinde, Manyara Chaitika, Franca Adaaku Chukwuma, Ximena Victoria Rios Palacios, Nompendulo Lukhele, Sufia Tehseen, Malebo Matlala, Nosagiagbon Obasuyi, Lilian Ijeoma Ejim, Linda Onyia, Bridgette Ann Mabato, Charity Nkereuwem-Sunday, Zsuzsa Szomolayni, Tasmin Alkderat and Nandile Ncombo.

They represent South Africa, Nigeria, Indonesia, Zimbawbwe, Mexico, Eswatini, Pakistan, Qatar, Germany and Jordan.

Applications and responses to the NEOBSH bursary

NEBOSH said the bursary received over 2000 applications from women around the world who want to build their learning, develop their careers and influence workplace health and safety.

The judges selected applicants based on what NEBOSH described as genuine and emotive stories, clear passion for protecting colleagues and communities, energetic delivery, strong communication skills and video submissions that held attention.

Lisa Mangwende said: “Receiving the NEBOSH L’Oreal Bursary is truly an honour, and l am deeply grateful for this incredible opportunity.

“This bursary is going to remove a lot of barriers for me and makes what once felt out of reach, now realistic.

“It is an investment in my future and a vote of confidence in my potential.

NEBOSH and L’Oréal support international women pursuing safety careers

NEBOSH has announced that ten women from across six countries have been selected as recipients of the 2025 NEBOSH–L’Oréal International Bursary.

The bursary provides funding for study and assessment fees for the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

The initiative, now in its third year, is a collaboration between NEBOSH and global cosmetics company L’Oréal.

It attracted over 1000 applications from women aiming to advance their careers in occupational health and safety.

Applicants selected from more than 1000 global submissions

The bursary is designed to increase access to formal qualifications for women interested in workplace safety.

According to NEBOSH, the ten recipients were chosen for their strong motivation to develop their skills and improve safety outcomes in their workplaces.

The winners are based in India, Nigeria, South Africa, Indonesia, Croatia and Zimbabwe.

One of the recipients, Ina Hranilovic, said: “Getting the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is something I started thinking about in the middle of the lockdown in 2020.

“But in the end, I decided it wasn’t a good time to start with something like that.

“Today, I couldn’t be more thrilled with how things turned out because not only did I get the chance to learn about something I really care about, but I also got to do it as a part of a project dedicated to women and created for them.

“Thank you so much once again for this great opportunity.”

Bursary continues focus on supporting career development in safety
