CitroTech partners with Texas A&M Engineering

CitroTech and the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) has announced a 12-month research partnership to develop water-based polymer technologies for fire-resistant textiles.
According to the company, the collaboration is focused on addressing a persistent gap in fire-resistant materials: developing wash-durable, skin-safe textile coatings that maintain flame resistance even after repeated use and laundering – an area where conventional solutions often fall short.
Initial applications are expected in firefighting gear and industrial textiles, where durability and safety are critical, with longer-term potential across home furnishings and consumer products.

Together, CitroTech and Texas A&M researchers are accelerating the transition from academic discovery to real-world application, addressing longstanding challenges around durability, performance and chemical safety.

Dr Grunlan added: “Flame retardancy has long required trade-offs between safety, durability and practicality, particularly in textiles that are washed, worn and exposed to the elements.

Features

The technology under development uses water-based polymers that form a thin, durable layer on fabric.
When exposed to heat or flame, that layer reacts by expanding and forming a protective shield, helping slow fire spread and insulate the material beneath.
Unlike many conventional treatments, CitroTech said that these coatings are designed to stay in place over time and avoid the use of chemicals of concern, including PFAS and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
As part of the initiative, CitroTech is funding dedicated research at TEES, including graduate-level work and advanced testing, creating a direct pipeline from early-stage research to product development.
The company explained that this collaboration reflects a broader strategic focus on expanding CitroTech’s portfolio through investment in cleaner, high-performance technologies that address evolving fire risks.

CitroTech outlines fire product growth after NYSE American uplist

Fire growth and 2025 results

CitroTech has reported revenue growth in 2025, leadership changes, an NYSE American uplist and further commercial plans for its fire inhibition products and CitroSafe systems.

In a letter to shareholders issued on 30 March, Wesley J. Bolsen, Chief Executive Officer of CitroTech, outlined the company’s financial performance and corporate developments.

Revenue reached $2.4 million in 2025, up from $808,000 in 2024.

The company also completed $8.1 million in Series C financing through preferred equity and convertible instruments.

CitroTech’s common stock uplisted to the NYSE American in December 2025.

Bolsen said Andrew Hotsko joined as Chief Operating Officer in July 2025 and that he joined as Chief Executive Officer in October 2025.

He also confirmed that Craig Huff of Boltrock Holdings and Lorenzo Calinawan from Chemlink Partners joined the Board of Directors.

In early 2026, the company added a Vice President of Business Development and expanded its research and development team.

Fire products and 2026 commercial plans

Bolsen said CitroTech holds 37 granted patents and 45 filed or pending applications covering chemistry, application methods and fire inhibition technologies.

He added that the company remained the first and only fire inhibitor to receive the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Safer Choice designation and that it has maintained UL GREENGUARD Gold certification.

The letter stated that CitroTech products saw adoption by fire departments, particularly across California.

Its wood treatment products also moved toward commercialisation for the fire-retardant-treated lumber market.

In early 2026, the company began partnering with lumber and building materials companies using CitroTech formulations to produce Class A fire rated wood products.

Bolsen said CitroTech continued deploying CitroSafe Systems for residential and commercial properties and linked further deployment to proof-of-concept work with a major broker.

Fire outlook linked to wildfire demand

Bolsen said CitroTech’s 2026 focus is on scaling operations, expanding commercial channels and building partnerships across the lumber and building materials industry.

He added that CitroSafe Systems deployment is expected to move beyond proof-of-concept, including deeper integration with insurance solutions.

CitroTech expects revenue growth to accelerate in 2026 as wildfire season intensifies and commercial channels expand.

The letter also cited independent research projecting the global fire-retardant market will reach $13.6 billion by 2034.

Bolsen said the company plans to report its first quarter 2026 results during its first formal earnings call in May.

CitroTech announces wildfire prevention partnership with All Terrain Fire Support

Wildfire prevention partnership announced for US agencies

CitroTech has announced a strategic partnership with All Terrain Fire Support to support wildfire prevention work for federal, state and military agencies in the United States.

CitroTech said the agreement is intended to help protect infrastructure and reduce wildfire risk using its fire inhibition product alongside All Terrain Fire Support’s operational work with government and defence customers.

The companies said the partnership will initially focus on US federal and military opportunities.

It may later expand across the Western United States.

CitroTech said as much as 275,000 gallons of product may be needed to cover each square mile of terrain or active munition zones.

The company said its product is recognised by the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Safer Choice programme and has been tested to UL Greenguard Gold standards.

Product details and operational scope

CitroTech said its product is designed to help prevent ignitions and protect assets before and during wildfire events.

The company said the partnership combines its fire inhibition technology with All Terrain Fire Support’s government and defence relationships.

The announcement links the arrangement to wildfire readiness and environmental compliance requirements facing US military and government agencies.

CitroTech said the initial scope includes bases, training grounds, active munition zones and nearby communities in high-risk fire zones.
