Overview of MIBA 2025 and SICUREZZA’s role

Fiera Milano has announced that SICUREZZA 2025 will take place from 19 to 21 November as part of the Milan International Building Alliance (MIBA).

The combined event will bring together more than 1,250 companies from 38 countries across eight exhibition halls.

According to the organiser, 28% of exhibitors will be international, with strong participation from Germany, Spain, Poland, France and China.

The alliance unites four trade shows – GEE (Global Elevator Exhibition), MADE expo, SBE (Smart Building Expo) and SICUREZZA – to provide a comprehensive overview of innovation across the built environment.

European funding and the New European Bauhaus

Fiera Milano said the Third MIBA Observatory, developed by the Politecnico di Milano, analyses the 2025–2027 construction sector outlook.

It identifies the New European Bauhaus (NEB) as a major driver of investment in sustainable, inclusive and aesthetically focused building projects.

The NEB Facility is expected to mobilise more than €240 million per year, equally divided between innovation and implementation.

Sector estimates suggest that every euro invested could generate an impact around 30 times its value through co-funding and private partnerships.

This would result in approximately €7 billion annually in NEB-oriented projects across Europe, totalling over €20 billion during the three-year period.

In Italy, NEB investments could reach €2.5 billion, supporting redevelopment of public, educational, residential and cultural buildings.

NEB impact across construction, technology and security

According to the Observatory, sustainable architecture – the focus of MADE expo – will account for an average of 25% of total NEB investments.

Based on an estimated €7 billion annual total, this equates to a €5.25 billion European market between 2025 and 2027, including €680 million for Italy.

Digitalisation of the built environment, represented by Smart Building Expo, could account for 12% of NEB project value, equivalent to €2.7 billion across Europe and €350 million in Italy.

Vertical mobility solutions, central to the Global Elevator Exhibition, may capture around 2.5% of total NEB investment, amounting to €500 million Europe-wide and €65 million in Italy.

Security and fire protection, represented by SICUREZZA, is forecast to make up 5.5% of NEB-related spending.

This represents an annual European market of €1.2 billion between 2025 and 2027, with €150 million expected for Italy.

Four exhibitions under one alliance

GEE will host over 100 exhibitors focusing on innovation, safety and predictive maintenance in mobility systems.

MADE expo will feature more than 650 exhibitors from 29 countries and highlight artificial intelligence, sustainable materials and design technologies.

Smart Building Expo will include 140 exhibitors from 17 countries and three themed days focused on decarbonisation, electrification and smart cities.

SICUREZZA 2025 will feature 340 exhibitors from 26 countries and maintain its focus on integrated and interconnected safety solutions.

A new three-day training programme will address cybersecurity, physical security and workforce development through Cyber Day, Security Day and Job in Security Day.

Cross-sector integration for sustainable growth

SICUREZZA’s position within MIBA places security and fire protection alongside construction, technology and mobility.

This alignment reflects the broader European shift toward interconnected building systems designed to improve safety, efficiency and sustainability.

The event’s structure mirrors emerging priorities in both the public and private sectors, where digital transformation and decarbonisation are driving investment decisions.

Paola Sarco noted that integration between disciplines remains essential to the long-term renewal of Europe’s building stock.

Implications for security and fire protection professionals

SICUREZZA 2025 will be relevant for security system manufacturers, fire-protection engineers and integrators working in intelligent building design.

The event’s focus on IoT-enabled detection, compartmentalisation and environmental sensing reflects growing adoption of digital control and monitoring across commercial and public infrastructure.

Architects, building services engineers and facility managers may also find value in the convergence of construction and safety standards under EU sustainability and NEB frameworks.

For training providers and installers, the three-day programme will offer insight into cybersecurity, recruitment and new technical skill requirements.

By aligning with MIBA, SICUREZZA positions security and fire safety within the wider European conversation on decarbonisation and urban renewal.
