LION expands TotalCare with SuperCritical CO2 cleaning technology

LION adds CO2 cleaning technology to TotalCare

LION Safety Solutions, a business unit of LION Group, has announced a partnership with Decontex Holding to deliver SuperCritical CO2 personal protective equipment (PPE) cleaning technology through LION TotalCare across the United States.

LION Safety Solutions said the technology will be deployed across its facilities nationwide over the next year, with installations, servicing and ongoing support managed locally through LION TotalCare in partnership with Decontex.

The company said the SuperCritical CO2 process was invented by NASA and developed by Decontex.

It added that the technology exceeds National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1850 cleaning standards, based on verification by an independent US laboratory.

Decontex has refined the process over the past decade with academic partners, according to the announcement.

The company said the system has been used to clean more than one million pieces of PPE across 16 countries to date.

Rollout and customer support details

LION said the partnership is intended to widen access to the cleaning technology through its existing PPE care and maintenance network.

The announcement states that fire departments will be able to access the system through LION TotalCare locations nationwide.

Mark Smith, CEO of LION Safety Solutions, said: “We are always seeking ways to improve how we serve our customers.

“That means developing and delivering the best technologies available and deploying them in ways that make our solutions safer, more sustainable, and more effective.

“This partnership allows us to do exactly that — combining advanced innovation with the trusted expertise and support our fire service customers rely on.”

Tommy Verminck, CEO of Decontex Holding, said: “LION’s operational excellence, deep experience and expertise and commitment to the fire service, makes this partnership truly values-aligned.

“We couldn’t think of a better partner with who to deliver our technology at scale.”

LION said the partnership is the next step in its TotalCare programme and its wider PPE cleaning and maintenance work.

LION adds Florida PPE provider for firefighters care

Firefighters gain new Florida service location

LION Safety Solutions has acquired Florida PPE Services, a verified Independent Service Provider dedicated to keeping firefighters safe and healthy, adding a second LION TotalCare location in the Southeast.

LION Safety Solutions stated that the Central Florida facility will extend its TotalCare service and gear maintenance programmes to a wider customer base in the state and across the region.

The acquisition adds several of Central Florida’s largest departments to the company’s TotalCare client base.

The company said the new site is intended to help meet rising demand in Florida and the wider Southeast.

Mark Smith, Chief Executive Officer of LION Safety Solutions, said: “This move represents the kind of smart growth we’re committed to.

“Expanding into Florida strengthens our national footprint and helps us support customers wherever they are.

“Florida PPE has an excellent reputation, and we’re excited to bring them into the LION family.

“And this is only the beginning as we continue to scale and pursue opportunities.”

Florida PPE owner joins leadership team

LION Safety Solutions said Florida PPE Services President and owner Tonya Herbert will join its leadership team as Vice President of Government Relations and Advocacy as part of the acquisition.

Herbert has started multiple companies focused on helping firefighters clean their gear and themselves.

The company said its TotalCare facilities operate across the United States and provide cleaning, inspections and repairs for firefighter gear.

It added that LION Safety Solutions also provides digital and live-fire training solutions, along with PPE rental gear for fire departments and academies.

Herbert said: “This partnership is deeply personal to me.

“For years, my work has been driven by one goal: protecting firefighters from the long-term health risks of the job.

“LION TotalCare shares that commitment, not just in words, but in action, and together we can raise the standard for how the fire service cares for its people.”

The acquisition adds a new Southeast location to LION’s existing network and brings Florida PPE Services into its wider service operation.
