Jones Fire Apparatus is a partner company of Fire Apparatus Service and Repair, a service and repair company specializing in emergency apparatus since 1998. Fire Apparatus Service and Repair has been a KME warranty provider since 2006. Combined they will serve as the dealership of KME for sales and service in Ohio.

Motorola Solutions provides mobile panic alert system to Florida schools

The Florida Department of Education (DOE) has announced it has selected Motorola Solutions as a preferred provider for the deployment of a statewide mobile panic alert system for Florida’s K-12 schools.

To deliver the solution, Motorola Solutions teamed up with SaferWatch to offer a cutting-edge safety application that connects school districts directly with law enforcement in Florida. The DOE ranked it as the top technical solution offered amongst its selected vendors.

“Motorola Solutions and SaferWatch have developed a proven product to help keep students and faculty safer,” said Tony Montalto, President of Stand with Parkland. “This is another layer in the school safety system that is being revamped in the wake of the Parkland school massacre three years ago. Speeding up critical response times during an emergency is vital, and I am pleased to see a statewide effort to implement mobile panic alert systems in Florida’s K-12 schools.”­

This solution meets the criteria of Alyssa’s Law, which requires every public and charter school in the state to implement a mobile panic alert system connected to a public safety answering point (PSAP) and first responders. 

“The Motorola Solutions and SaferWatch solution was implemented in Broward County, where it covers more than 440 schools, 850 houses of worship, the Broward County Courthouse, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, and Port Everglades,” said Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony.

Mobile panic alert system notifies responders immediately

Maximum protection and grip

The outer material consists exclusively of premium bull leather, while the workmanship with double and triple seams ensures maximum safety and a long service life.

The leather is sourced from environmentally friendly, socially responsible production, and the manufacturing of the boots (assembly and stitching) is carried out under the strictest quality standards in Europe. 

The sole of the new boots was developed in cooperation with Michelin specifically for the requirements of fire services. It is made from a high-quality rubber mix and offers a unique pattern.

The sole absorbs all forces exerted onto the boot from all directions while at the same time guaranteeing maximum slip protection on wet surfaces, snow, and ice. The multi-layer sole design with intermediate air pockets ensures excellent cold and heat insulation.

A steel insert inside the sole offers maximum penetration protection, while the toes are protected by an impact-proof safety steel cap. The exterior heel and toe areas are also fitted with high-quality TPU protectors that offer additional protection against blows and impacts, in addition to protecting the leather against wear.

The ankle protection is tested according to the guidelines for safety shoes EN 20345:2012, and is padded with a special foam that adapts particularly well to the shape of the ankle and cushions incrementally when compressed (memory foam). 

Excellent wearing comfort
Water-repellent leather on the outside and a four-layer, highly flexible SympaTex® membrane on the inside make BOROS fire fighting boots water and virus proof. The high-tech materials of the fabric also ensure optimal climate regulation, as they absorb moisture in the interior and release it to the outside over a large area.

Warmth and moisture can escape via the shaft cuff, which is made of breathable mesh materials. The suspended finish of the membrane creates a pumping effect and increases the transport of air to the shaft when walking.

The new BOROS B4 is equipped with a specially developed 360° flex zone that separates the lower part of the boot from the shaft and offers excellent freedom of movement. The toe area provides additional space as the safety steel cap is higher in all models.

Optimal fit
The insoles have been completely redesigned for the BOROS line and – together with a modern and dynamic cut – ensure an excellent fit. Each model is available in 17 sizes (36 to 52), with width adjustment via the insoles (10 or 12). The insoles are designed to support and stabilize the foot and have a shock-absorbing element built into the heel area that absorbs and cushions shocks. They are also moisture-absorbent and washable.

New quick release fastener
When it comes to the speed with which the boots can be put on and their adaptability to individual foot shapes, the BOROS B4 is unrivaled. It has a completely newly developed quick release fastener system with a 2-zone lacing and lateral adjustment hooks, whereby the forefoot (lower zone) and shaft (upper zone) can be tensioned individually.

Once set, dressing and undressing in the field is particularly quick and convenient: slip in, pull up the strap until it is locked, and you are ready to go. To slip out, the buckle is simply moved forward and the boot opens. Putting on and taking off the boots is made easier by the extreme mobility of the 360° flex zone, supported by robust loops on the upper and an slip-off aid integrated into the rear part of the sole. That is the case not only for the BOROS B4, but all Rosenbauer protective fire fighting boots.

The boots of the new BOROS line were developed especially for emergency response organizations. Sutphen Corporation Enters the Tractor Drawn Aerial Market

Sutphen Corporation, the largest family-owned fire apparatus manufacturer in the U.S have launched the Sutphen tractor drawn aerial.

Adding to Sutphen’s expansive family of aerials, the 131-year-old, family-owned business offers its renown mid-mount design, its leading rear-mount design and, now, its new tractor drawn aerial design.

The first Sutphen tractor drawn aerial will be manufactured for DeKalb County Fire Rescue in DeKalb County, Georgia. The truck was sold through Sutphen’s official Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina dealer, Williams Fire Apparatus.

DeKalb County Fire Rescue will take delivery of the Sutphen TDA later this year. Until then, details and finishing touches are being placed on the apparatus.

Perimeter Solutions introduce new fluorine-free firefighting foam

Perimeter Solutions have announced the introduction of a new line of fluorine-free firefighting foam concentrates for general purpose use. Called SOLBERG® VERSAGARD™, the fluorine-free line debuts with SOLBERG VERSAGARD AS-100.

SOLBERG VERSAGARD AS-100 multipurpose 3×3 fluorine-free firefighting foam concentrate is an alcohol resistant, state-of-the-art pseudoplastic foam technology designed for extinguishing and securing both Class B (hydrocarbon and polar solvent liquid fuel) and deep-seated Class A fires.

This biodegradable and non-persistent concentrate is made with no siloxanes and is a combination of hydrocarbon surfactants and additives that delivers excellent foaming, vapor sealing, extinguishment and burnback properties using fresh, sea or brackish water. Some fluorine-free firefighting foams are viscous and often show viscosity increase when in contact with water.

SOLBERG VERSAGARD AS-100 creates very stable foams while keeping a similar viscosity to traditional AR-AFFF foams. This significantly improves storage, handling and long-term stability. SOLBERG VERSAGARD enters the market with a growing number of international certifications, including EN-1568-1/2/3/4:2018, LASTFIRE, ICAO B and International Maritime Organization.

Fire-Dex have launched a range of non-fluorinated PPE fabrics. The TECGEN71+ and TECGEN51+ PPE fabrics come built with an eco-friendly PFAS free water-repellent finish that addresses customer demands and improves sustainability. 

Exclusive to Fire-Dex, TECGEN71+ and TECGEN51+ are fabrics built with the same configuration as their traditional TECGEN71 and TECGEN51 materials but offer a new PFAS free DWR finish.

Avon Protection donates TIC to help search and rescue operations

Avon Protection have donated nine thermal imaging cameras to Nepalese charity, Karma Flights, to help them in their search and rescue operations.

Karma Flights are a non-profit Organization based in Nepal. A group of volunteers work to improve schools, install water supplies to villages, improve medical facilities in remote areas as well as many other projects around Nepal.

One of the things Karma Flights do is act as first responders to landslides and earthquakes, which happen often in Nepal and have devastating effects on people’s lives. The Avon Protection Thermal Imaging Cameras will make search and rescue operations much easier, as well helping to identify people beneath the rubble and rescue them in a much more-timely manner.

These life-saving efforts made by the charity in Nepal are outstanding, not only do they rescue those directly impacted by the land slides, but they also work to re-build homes of those affected. We are glad that Avon Protection could make a small difference to the invaluable work they are doing.

Toronto Fire Services have received the Industrial Pumper manufactured by fire apparatus experts E-ONE.

Toronto Fire Services chose the Industrial Pumper because of E-ONE’s long history of building this type of truck with its large diameter plumbing, 12,000 liter per minute pumping capacity and 2,030-gallon tank for Class B foam. In addition to its large capacity for foam, the truck will also serve as a mobile deck gun supplying more water than any of its current units.

Other key features of the E-ONE Industrial Pumper include:
