The  International Water Mist Association (IWMA), has announced that IWMC 2021 (the 20^th International Water Mist Conference 2021) will take place on 27^th and 28^th October 2021. The event will take place in Warsaw, Poland, Regent Warsaw Hotel.

“Reluctantly, we have decided to once again postpone the event, because we do not know what conditions we would have faced in April. We prefer to meet face to face and hope that this will be possible in October” explains IWMA general manager Bettina McDowell.  

The call for papers was issued on 15^th February. The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 31^st May. That is also the day when the conference webpage will go live. On 15^th July, the programme will be published and the early bird period, during which IWMA will offer reduced tickets, will end on 30^th July. For this event IWMA will offer special prices for locals.

Day one will as always be “Applications Day” and can be booked separately. Day two will mostly be dedicated to sciences and research.

The water mist conference is an annual event and the only event solely dedicated to the water mist technology.

IFSEC International, one of the largest gatherings of security professionals, has announced it will now take place from 12 – 14 July, 2021 at ExCeL, London and will be run in line with the industry recognised and Government approved AllSecure standard, to ensure attendee safety.

Chris Edwards, Group Director at Informa Markets announced: “The safety and wellbeing of our attendees and exhibitors is our foremost priority which is why we have moved the date to the summer of 2021 and will be looking to operate under the highest possible level of health and safety standards, which Informa AllSecure enables us to do.”

AllSecure was piloted in September 2020 and approved by the UK Government on 19 November 2020 as a model for running large events safely. It involves several health and safety measures, including deep cleaning, social distancing on-site, staggered arrival times and PPE, such as face masks.

In addition, IFSEC International has also announced plans for a variety of online events, set to take place in June, 2021. Chris Edwards commented: “While 2020 had its challenges for in-person events, IFSEC International was able to innovate and bring the industry together remotely via online platforms and we are looking to further build on that success in 2021.”

IFSEC International’s online experiences will provide opportunities for audiences to organise live video calls with exhibitors, browse solution providers and products via an online marketplace while some of the very latest in tech innovation, industry best practice and thought leadership will be showcased.

The 2021 installment of Critical Communications World has been delayed until November, with organisers citing ongoing travel restrictions as the driving force behind the decision.

The event brings mission-critical and business-critical end-users and manufacturers all together over the course of three days.

On a statement on their website, TCCA Chief Executive Tony Gray said: “Everyone involved in Critical Communications World must be able to prepare for the event with full confidence. They must be reassured that plans will not have to change, travel costs will not be wasted, and – crucially – that they will be safe.”

“CCW is the largest and most important show in its sector. It will continue to bring the entire industry ecosystem together, setting the agenda for the future of critical communications.”

The event will now take place on 3 – 5 November at the Feria de Madrid – otherwise known as the IFEMA – in Madrid, Spain.

With the continued uncertainty of live events stretching well into 2021, the National Fire Protection Association have announced that the 2021 NFPA Conference & Expo® will not happen as scheduled and instead will be replaced with the 125thAnniversary Conference Series, a year-long, targeted, virtual experience.

“C&E is recognised as a world-class experience for all our attendees and we can’t safely hold an in-person event of this size,” said Jim Pauley, National Fire Protection Association President and CEO. “We needed to switch gears in order to be able to fully devote our efforts to creating a new, different experience that lives up to our high expectations and one where everyone could safely attend and participate.”

The conference & expo series will feature education sessions for specific areas of expertise, networking events, and product showcases throughout 2021 and culminating with the return of an in-person event in Boston to recognise the 125thAnniversary of NFPA in 2022.

“NFPA is about safety. We are also about leveraging technology to significantly advance the way safety information is delivered and used to reduce loss across the globe,” said Pauley. “The 125thAnniversary Conference Series will innovatively showcase both these aspects.”

The NFPA 2021 annual business meeting will take place virtually this year during the week of June 21,2021.

Today, the International Water Mist Association (IWMA), announced that IWMC 2021 will be postponed once again. The IWMA board of directors felt it was necessary to take these measures as it is unclear what the overall situation around 21^st and 22^nd of April will be like.  

“Reluctantly, we have decided to postpone the event, because we do not know what conditions we face if we decided to follow. We would really like to meet face to face, but cannot see this happening in April“, explains IWMA general manager Bettina McDowell.  

The venue and the date are currently being re-evaluated. Details of where and when the 20^th International Water Mist Conference will take place will be announced as soon as possible.

“We very much hope that the situation will improve and that we can hold the conference in October 2021”, says Bettina McDowell.

The water mist conference is an annual event and the only event solely dedicated to the water mist technology.

IWMC is the latest event to be postponed, following FDIC and INTERSCHUTZ.

TRANSCAER and the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) are hosting a series of free webinars to help responders prepare for an emergency response involving ethanol. New dates have been added for both the Ethanol Emergency Response course and the Ethanol Emergency Response – Train the Trainer course.

Ethanol Emergency Response Webinar

Due to the pandemic, the RFA is offering the four-hour long Ethanol Emergency Response training in a webinar format. These webinars are instructed by a nationally accredited and professional instructor with an extensive background in emergency management/firefighting/hazardous materials response.

The goal of these seminars is for attendees to gain a full ethanol and ethanol-blended fuel emergency response training experience that can be put to use immediately in the field.

The training program covers the following: Ethanol and ethanol-blended fuels, chemical and physical characteristics of ethanol and hydrocarbon fuels, transportation and transfer, storage and dispensing locations, firefighting foam principles, general health and safety considerations, and storage and pre-planning considerations. Certificates of participation will be awarded to all registered attendees once the webinar has been completed.

Ethanol Emergency Response – Train the Trainer Webinar

RFA also offers Ethanol Emergency Response – Train the Trainer webinars, which is a pay-it-forward type of program. A single webinar can train a group of individuals who can then turn around and pass that information forward, equipping entire communities with the knowledge necessary to respond to any potential ethanol-related emergency.

The Train the Trainer courses are intended to develop instructors to lead operations level training. The instructors are responders who have an awareness level of hazardous material storage, handing, and emergency response.

The webinars are open to all professional individuals above the technical level of training who are interested in learning how to teach ethanol emergency response. Certificates of participation will be awarded to all registered attendees once the webinar has been completed.

Engage Services, a Marston Holdings company and a leading provider of field services to the public sector, energy and water sectors, is working with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to carry out COVID-secure spot check visits.

As an approved and appropriately trained supplier, Engage Services’ agents will undertake spot check visits on business premises on behalf of the HSE and Local Authorities across England, Wales and Scotland. These checks will help to establish that businesses have taken the necessary steps to make their premises COVID-secure and implemented measures to reduce the transmission of coronavirus to protect workers, visitors and customers.

Engage Services spot check support officers will assist the HSE by speaking with the responsible person in each business to check the COVID-secure measures they have in place. Using HSE’s comprehensive guidelines they will also provide businesses with basic guidance and advice.

The International Water Mist Association (IWMA) have announced that a second series of webinars on fire protection with water mist will take place early in the new year.

The three events will take place on the 14th, 21st and 28th of January 2021, each one at 10.00 a.m. Registration is free of charge. The event on the 14 of January will deal with “water mist for hospitals and the healthcare sector”.

The topic on 21st will be “water mist for public transport” and attendees will learn all about “water mist for high-rise buildings” on 28th January. The programme will be published on 7th January.

International Water Mist Association general manager Bettina McDowell says: ”The webinars will from now on be a part of the IWMA activities. The next series will take place in April.
