Darley confirms $1.1 billion in firefighting and military equipment contracts

Defence sales push Darley into US top 50 contractor list

Darley has confirmed that it delivered over $1.1 billion in equipment to the United States Department of Defense in 2024.

The company disclosed the figure in a formal announcement on its website dated July 2025.

According to Darley, the scale of its 2024 defence output earned it a place among the top 50 defence contractors in the United States.

The Illinois-based company said its contracts in 2024 included a combination of fire pumps, damage control pumps, special operations equipment, and firefighting gear.

Darley stated that this milestone marks the latest step in a 100-year relationship with the US military and emergency response services.

Longstanding supply history with military and navy

Darley said its defence work dates back to World War II, when it provided hundreds of fire pumps and vehicles to the US military.

The company stated that it was awarded the Army-Navy E Award on three occasions during this period.

In the 1990s, Darley began supplying the P100 pump to the US Navy under a government contract.

According to the company, more than $100 million worth of these pumps have now been delivered to the US Navy and to over 40 international naval forces.

Darley added that its supply work continued with the award of the P6 damage control pump contract by the US Coast Guard.

Further contracts were also confirmed with the US Marine Corps and US Army for the LE600 fuel transfer pump.

Growth in C5ISR product supply

Darley attributed part of its sales growth to an expansion in the supply of C5ISR products.

C5ISR is a military command structure covering Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance systems.

The company said this area of its business has expanded in recent years and contributed to its total 2024 sales volume.

Chief Financial Officer Lee Wise said: “Darley is uniquely positioned as both a manufacturer and distributor for larger US prime defence contractors. We meet stringent Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).”

Wise added: “Because Darley reinvests most profits back into the company, our financial position is stronger than most of our competitors. [This] allows us to compete and win in many areas.”

Business model includes both manufacturing and distribution

Darley said its dual model as both a manufacturer and distributor has played a role in recent contract success.

The company described itself as compliant with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), which apply to government suppliers.

It added that this status has helped it to secure contracts as a supplier to larger US prime contractors.

Darley explained that its organisational structure is designed to meet both military specifications and procurement needs.

According to CFO Lee Wise, the company’s approach enables competitiveness in areas beyond manufacturing alone.

Wise said: “Darley is uniquely positioned as both a manufacturer and distributor for larger US prime defence contractors.”

Reinvestment strategy supports financial resilience

Darley reported that it reinvests the majority of its profits into the business.

The company said this strategy has improved its financial strength compared to competitors.

According to the company, this reinvestment model supports its position in securing defence contracts and sustaining long-term growth.

Wise said this approach strengthens Darley’s ability to maintain contract delivery and performance over time.

He said: “Because Darley reinvests most profits back into the company, our financial position is stronger than most of our competitors.”
