Intersec has reported record exhibitor participation at its 26th edition, held at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

According to Intersec, the event, which took place under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, hosted exhibitors from 61 countries, covering 61,000 sqm of exhibition space.

The 2025 edition marked a 20% increase in floor space compared to the previous year.

The event attracted 47,300 visitors from 142 countries, featuring innovations and discussions across five key sectors: commercial and perimeter security, fire and rescue, safety and health, cyber security, and homeland security and policing.

New conferences address policing and cybersecurity

Intersec 2025 introduced the Intersec Policing Conference, a two-day event featuring over 50 speakers from law enforcement agencies including Abu Dhabi Police, INTERPOL, the Metropolitan Police, and the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit.

The event also saw the launch of the CISO Business Briefing, which brought together regional Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) to examine cybersecurity threats and opportunities.

Stuart Frost, BEM, Head of Enterprise Security and Risk Management for the UK Government, emphasised the issue, saying: “The primary risk in any supply chain is not just the failure of security controls, but the fact that humans are fallible and make mistakes simply because they are human.”

Frost highlighted that security often takes a back seat when awarding contracts, with business and financial considerations taking priority.

The UAE’s contracts market, for instance, saw a substantial increase in contract awards, reaching US$79.5 billion in 2023, up from US$29.7 billion in 2022.

However, Frost explained that this focus on commercial imperatives can overshadow the need for rigorous security measures.

He noted the importance of conducting thorough risk analysis and ongoing post-contract assurance to mitigate these risks.

“Post-contract assurance should be performed at least annually to ensure the controls are still effective and the risk position is managed,” Frost added.

Frost warned that many businesses fail to properly assess the risks posed by lower-tier suppliers in their supply chains.
