The new provision includes £144.9 million for expanded remedial works, £39.5 million for additional cladding remediation, and £37.8 million for site-specific costs, professional fees and contingencies.

The company said it continues to support leaseholders by covering remediation costs and reiterated that residents should not bear the financial burden of these works.

According to Siderise, the CW-FS120 system provides passive fire protection for the tower’s unitised curtain wall façade.

The manufacturer said the firestop was selected to deliver floor-to-floor compartmentation at the junction between floor slabs and the internal surface of the external wall.

Siderise stated that the installation was carried out by Marvel Contracting, who coordinated with US distribution partner Facades X.

The CW-FS120 product was tested to ASTM E2307 and has an FT rating of up to three hours, the company added.

Firestop tailored to complex slab-edge geometry

The building is located between Bryant Park and the Empire State Building in the Garment District.

It was designed by C3D Architecture and features a concrete frame with a glass curtain wall, open terraces and a multi-cylinder podium.

Siderise said the CW-FS120 firestop was selected for its ability to support continuous perimeter fire protection across a non-standard slab-edge design.

The company said the east elevation required custom detailing to address curved sections and staggered floor plates.

Façade contractor Bisam Façade and consultants at Socotec collaborated with Siderise to prepare the technical submittal for the firestop system.

Siderise explained that this included full documentation of installation methods to maintain compression fit and accommodate expected movement during the building’s lifespan.

Firestop tested to US building standards

Siderise reported that the CW-FS120 Firestop system has been tested for L-rating compliance with the International Building Code.

The system’s FT rating was validated through testing to ASTM E2307 as part of the CW Perimeter Barrier System.

Siderise said the core of the product is made from vertical-fibre stone wool Lamella.

This material was selected for its ability to accommodate movement within high-rise structures and retain its firestop properties over time.

The manufacturer stated that the design life of the CW-FS120 system is 60 years.

According to Siderise, Marvel Contracting received project-specific training before installation began.

Training and oversight were provided by Siderise Site Services.

The company said this included benchmark installations and regular inspections.

The guidance also applies to distributors and companies applying their own branding to ironmongery components.

The organisations said the document has been in development for more than a year.

Content outlines what manufacturers must provide

GAI said the guidance outlines the essential product information that manufacturers should provide for ironmongery used on fire resisting door systems.

The Guild explained that this includes recommendations on labelling, installation instructions, third-party certification, supporting test evidence and maintenance information.

It also includes details on intumescent protection where applicable.

The guidance encourages manufacturers to ensure information is available in both digital and printed formats, and kept up to date.

TROX has introduced a new smoke control damper designed to support compliance with the UK’s Building Safety Act 2022.

According to TROX, the EKA2-EU is engineered for use in single and multi-compartment smoke extract ducts and air shafts, and has been launched following extensive testing.

The company said smoke control dampers are intended to remove smoke gases and provide supply air to fire compartments, with two safe positions – open or closed – depending on the location and direction of smoke movement.

TROX stated that the EKA2-EU meets the latest UK and European classification standards, and is suitable for both mechanical smoke extract systems and heating, ventilation or mixed systems where automatic activation is required.

According to TROX, the damper has been certified across more than 400 individual installations, with compliance confirmed against BS EN 1366-10, 1366-2, and BS EN 13501-4.

It added that the EKA2-EU joins three other smoke control damper variants in the TROX portfolio, including the EK-JS, EK-JZ, and BVDAX models.

The company stated that these units are all tested to the harmonised BS EN 12101-8 product standard.

TROX said the EKA2-EU is available in nominal sizes from 200 × 200 mm to 1250 × 1000 mm, with casing lengths of 305 or 500 mm.

It reported a volume flow rate range up to 12000 l/s or 45000 m³/h depending on velocity, and an operating temperature range of -20 to 50 °C.

The company stated that the differential pressure range is ±1500 Pa, and that upstream air velocity should not exceed 15 m/s.
