Cygnus celebrates SmartNet anniversary at London Build 2025
Cygnus will exhibit at London Build 2025 from 19–20 November at Olympia, London.
The company said the event will mark the two-year anniversary of SmartNet, described as the world’s first fully EN 54 certified and 100% wireless fire detection and alarm system.
Cygnus explained that SmartNet is both EN 54 certified and BS 5839-1 compliant.
It is designed to be up to twenty times faster to install than wired systems, reducing disruption to buildings and operations.
The network operates through radio devices using a patented self-forming, self-healing wireless mesh design with multipath redundancy and channel hopping technology to ensure reliability.

Cygnus stated that SmartNet-Pro can connect up to 511 devices per panel and support 96 zones, with up to five panels networked for a combined total of more than 2,500 devices.

In the portable range, Teledyne GFD will highlight the Protégé ZM zero-maintenance single-gas monitor and the PS DUO detector capable of monitoring both H₂S and sulphur dioxide (SO₂).
For methane emissions, Teledyne GFD will feature its new MethaSense Trace system, designed for continuous low-emission monitoring and quantification with 50 ppm sensitivity using non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) technology.
Multi-spectrum flame detection and wireless control systems
The company’s flame detection exhibit will include the MultiFlame DF-TV7–T, a multi-spectrum infrared detector with three wavelengths.
The model responds to unwanted hydrocarbon fires and maintains high false-alarm immunity.
Spyglass triple infrared and ultraviolet–infrared open-path detectors will also be on display, including options that integrate high-definition video for remote decision-making.
Teledyne GFD said a new wireless gas detection monitoring system will also be introduced, featuring a touchscreen panel that can connect up to 64 Modbus or 4-20mA detectors through wired or wireless links.
The system allows configuration of sensor combinations, alarm set points and power sources according to site requirements.
Cloud platform to support compliance and data analysis
A further highlight will be Teledyne GDCloud, a cloud-based platform for secure data sharing and compliance record management.
The company said the solution allows users to visualise field data, view audit trails and generate compliance documentation.
Teledyne GFD described the platform as a way to simplify reporting and enable analysis of operational data for business decision-making.

Blackline Safety’s EXO 8 earns Firehouse Innovation Award
Blackline Safety has announced that its EXO 8 area monitor has been named a 2025 Firehouse Innovation Award winner.
The company said this recognition marks the eighth major industry award for the device in 2025.
The Firehouse Innovation Awards highlight advances that improve firefighter and emergency response operations.
Firehouse Magazine described EXO 8 as “the only area monitor that detects eight different gases and gamma radiation in a single, rugged, portable device.”
It called the model “a game changer for firefighters who operate in high-stakes environments.”

According to the company, EXO 8 is the only portable area monitor that combines gas and gamma radiation detection in a single connected unit.

The manufacturer explained that the platform enables responders and industrial users to view gas readings and radiation levels instantly from remote locations.
Multiple awards recognise EXO 8 innovation
In addition to the Firehouse award, EXO 8 has earned seven other major honours during 2025.
These include two Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) New Product of the Year Awards, a Red Dot Design Award, a Préventica Paris Innovation Award and three OH&S Industrial Hygiene Awards.
The company said the recognition reflects the device’s design, innovation and contribution to worker and public safety.
Platform update expands data insight
Blackline Safety confirmed that it has also refreshed its EXO 8 analytics report within the Blackline Live platform.
The update introduces features that allow users to view gas readings by location and track gamma radiation trends over time.
According to the company, these functions make it easier to visualise activity timelines and simplify audits and reporting.
