The Robot-TINO firefighting response unit

The Robot-TINO is a remote-controlled emergency response unit designed to fight or to mitigate fires and other hazardous events.

The unit is specifically designed to support firefighters during firefighting or fire mitigation operations in industrial process areas, tank farms, tunnels or anywhere congestion may create dangerous situations for the fire brigade.

The unit is powered via a compact diesel engine. Robust and sized to overcome difficult conditions such as those that are often found by emergency responders.

The unit is protected against heat radiation with a cooling system which allows the Robot-TINO to get closer than ever to the fire origin to suppress it with higher probability of success.

The unit is mechanically protected by a shell that prevents debris and fragments from entering the engine or control system parts. The roll-bar is also framed within the chassis and can be used to lift the vehicle in complete equilibrium. The frame also features a hooking point structure to lift the vehicle, as well as front and rear hooking systems for the fastening of equipment and optional devices.

The Robot-TINO comes with high-visibility LED headlights and blinkers. The vehicle is remote-controlled including the Fire Fighting Monitor or other accessories which can be installed to allow complete operation from a remote location.

The Robot-TINO is available with a wide array of accessories such as monitors, dry chemicals, foam, gas detectors or Infrared camera systems. All options available can be tailored and adapted to the specific application and requirements of the Emergency Response Team.

Det-tronics launches X3301 Multispectrum Infrared Flame Detector

Det-tronics has released the X3301 Multispectrum Infrared Flame Detector, which, when equipped with the unique dual-stage automotive mode and combined with the Eagle Quantum Premier® (EQP) Safety System Controller, delivers the level of detection/protection needed for this application as defined by NFPA 33.

The current requirement in fire/loss prevention for automotive paint lines is to use independent alarm action to initiate a two-stage extinguishing process. In the first stage of this extinguishing process, the painting operation is shut down. Sometimes, this action is combined with the discharge of a gaseous suppression agent. If this first action does not successfully extinguish the fire, the second stage of suppression, typically water deluge, is initiated.

The dual-stage response is designed to minimise process interruption in case of a fire. If the first stage extinguishes the fire, use of a water deluge is eliminated, minimising downtime and loss. If the first stage of action fails to extinguish the fire, the second stage of action (water deluge) is executed to prevent catastrophic damage and loss.

The X3301 automotive mode meets these requirements by providing independent outputs to activate these two stages of mitigation. This important feature helps minimise the losses associated with the consequences of executing an extinguishing event when it is unnecessary.

  • Multiple sensitivity modes
  • Optical Integrity (oi®) performs automatic fail-safe checks every 60 seconds
  • Heated optics for adverse environments and weather
  • Data logger with event time and date stamping (1500 events)

Tomar presents Apsire Series: scene illumination solution

TOMAR has announced their Aspire Series which is set to revolutionise scene illumination for the market. Adaptable telescoping scene lighting is the foundation of the Aspire Pole Mounted Series. Selecting a combination of Flood or Spot optics in 2 independently adjustable light heads not only helps illuminate what matters on your scene, but also increases performance of the scene light.

Should a vehicle or apparatus change environments or overall uses, the modular design allows a quick swap out of modules that adapt to the vehicle’s overall mission. Since the modules in the Aspire Series are constructed using TOMAR’s patented hermetically sealing process, swapping out a module does not void the warranty or damage any seals.

Aspire Pole Mounted Series Summary:

  • Independently adjustable light beams to maximise the performance of on-scene illumination
  • Hybrid TIR Optics direct light where it belongs and greatly reduces stray light
  • Hermetically sealed light modules housed in a marine-grade coated extruded housing that are easy to replace and/or repair
  • Available with or without telescoping pole
  • IP69K Rating

Vimpex announces new brochure ‘Door Holders, Closers & Fire Door Accessories’

The Vimpex range of Wired and Wire-Free Door Holders and accessories offers the installer the broadest choice of mounting styles and holding power. Mounted onto a fixed surface, these door holders ensure retention of the fire door by means of a smart metallic keeper plate and is interfaced with the fire alarm system.

When it comes to building specification, ensuring there are appropriate fire safety measures in place to protect occupants is a top priority.

Wired and Wire-Free Door Holders are arguably the single most important fire safety mechanism, guard against the lethal spread of toxic smoke and fumes – by far the greatest cause of death in fires.

Keeping a fire door propped open is illegal. Makeshift stoppers prevent the closing of the door – allowing smoke and fire to spread throughout the building making it difficult for occupants to escape and become overwhelmed with smoke.

Door Holders are de-energised as soon as the fire is detected thus releasing the door without a potentially harmful delay. This also allows a door to be safely kept open if needed and automatically closed during a fire.

Securiton AG presents Genius Plus smoke detectors

The intelligence of radio smoke detectors is entering a new dimension of protection and safety with the Basic and Pro radio modules (collective alarm) of Genius Plus X from Securiton AG.

A convincing solution

  • Radio transmission on the 868 MHz frequency immune to interference.
  • No pollution by radio waves: radio signals are transmitted only in the event of a real event. No other type of radio radiation.
  • Alarm forwarding in just 3 seconds.

Repeater
To cover long distances and reliably transmit the radio signal, each Genius Plus X radio smoke detector is equipped with a repeater, which acts as a signal amplifier by capturing the radio signal and forwarding it to the nearest detector. And even if the radio signal fails, the repeater automatically searches for the fastest possible route to the next detector.

Genius Port: receiving fire alarms anywhere, anytime

Genius Port allows you to receive, analyse, forward and silence fire alarms anywhere and anytime. This system locates all the alarm signals of the smoke detectors connected to the network via radio and forwards them to the user’s mobile device and to the Smart Home systems.

Genius Port for radio detectors Genius Genius Port ensures a secure connection between the smoke detectors connected to the network via radio Genius Plus X or Genius Hx and the user’s mobile device, and always keeps informed about the status of the system. In this way, the customer always has his own radio detectors under control. The Genius Control app allows you to call up additional features and services and stay constantly informed about the point from which the alarm started.

Typical fields of application of Genius Port

  • Hotel facilities, hostels, small hotels
  • Nurseries, kindergartens
  • Nursing homes
  • Small businesses, SMEs
  • Private homes

Interactive Valve and System Configurator from Viking Group

Viking Group has introduced a digital tool that assists its users in the configuration of Viking valve and trim selections. The new “Valve and System Configurator” simplifies the complex process of identifying and ordering the proper valve and trim combination for virtually any fire protection challenge.

The configurator, which can be accessed at http://webtools.vikingcorp.com/valveconfig/, allows customers to interactively build a complete system riser for Viking’s wet, dry, deluge and precaution systems. Additional systems, including flow control, pressure regulation, and Firecycle®, will be added in the spring.

“Viking offers hundreds, if not thousands, of valve and trim combinations,” said Jeff Norton, Vice President of Marketing for Viking Group. “Our digital solutions team worked tirelessly to ensure that this tool saves time and produces just the right solution for our customers’ needs.”

In the configurator, customers first select their desired system type. Next, the configurator walks the user through selecting an appropriate valve, trim set, and available system options. Throughout the configuration process, a representative 3D model of the system is dynamically rendered, allowing the specific system to be analysed from any angle.

After all the selections are made, a summary is generated with a complete bill of materials including part number, description, and quantity. This list can be sent to Viking SupplyNet automatically for quoting.

Finally, a zip file is provided that contains all related technical documentation for the system riser, including technical data sheets, trim diagrams, and friction loss charts.
