To extend range, the company has developed the EN54 ReX Jeweller, which can be used with up to five extenders to increase system coverage to 35 km².

The Fire Hub includes built-in radio communicators and supports both mains connection and backup lithium-ion batteries that offer 24 to 72 hours of autonomous operation, depending on model.

The company added that the system meets the EN 54 series of standards for fire detection and alarm systems and also integrates intrusion detection and video surveillance capabilities in line with EN 50131 (Grade 2).

The system includes a series of addressable smoke and heat detectors developed from Ajax’s residential product line.

According to Ajax Systems, the detectors feature a dual-spectrum optical sensor and the HazeFlow 2 algorithm for accurate smoke identification, alongside thermistors for heat detection.

Sounders and visual alarm devices are available as standalone or combined units, with the firm stating that activation occurs in under three seconds.

OroraTech USA has confirmed a new partnership with Opterrix, a geospatial platform used in the U.S. insurance industry.

According to OroraTech, the agreement will see its satellite-powered wildfire detection and AI fire spread simulations integrated into Opterrix’s risk management system.

The partnership launched with a one-year pilot programme involving USAA, making it the first U.S. insurance carrier to access OroraTech’s data via the Opterrix platform.

USAA will test the combined system to explore how real-time wildfire insights might help identify, quantify and reduce risk across its property portfolio.

OroraTech said its modelling, based on terrain, vegetation and wind conditions, enables high-resolution forecasts of fire development in time and space.

Partnership aims to improve insurer awareness and response

Opterrix said the integration provides insurers with visual overlays of wildfire spread, enabling users to assess threat levels for individual policyholders before and during a fire.

According to Hochiki Europe, the 90,000 sq ft former office building has been converted into 78 homes and retail units by Rightacres Property Company Limited.

The manufacturer stated that the development needed a detection system that could accommodate both residential and commercial spaces.

It said the ESP system was specified by Huvo and installed by P.E.S. Fire and Security.

The installation included integrated alarm zoning, automatic vent controls, and aesthetic compatibility with the refurbished interior.

System adapted to support layout changes

Hochiki Europe stated that the ESP system was selected for its capacity to operate across different functional areas while enabling ongoing reconfiguration.

Adra has adopted Aico’s Connected Home Solution to support its participation in the 2025 Optimised Retrofit Programme, according to an announcement from Aico.

The system will be used to monitor indoor conditions and track energy use across selected homes in Wales.

The Connected Home Solution provides real-time data on temperature, humidity, and carbon dioxide levels.

Aico said the system now also uses the Smart DCC network to monitor energy consumption without needing additional hardware.

Honeywell has announced it will lead a fire alarm system upgrade at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in the United States.

The company said the upgrade will take place in Terminal 4, the busiest terminal at the airport, with over 80 airline gates across eight concourses.

The existing Honeywell fire alarm system was originally installed in 2003.

Honeywell said the new upgrade will incorporate modern devices and modules that comply with the latest UL safety standards.

The company added that the upgraded system will include automated components designed to improve emergency response and performance.

Scope of the terminal project

According to Honeywell, the system upgrade will focus on both hardware and software changes.

The company confirmed that maps used by the Honeywell Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI) will be updated to improve alarm location accuracy.

Honeywell said EBI maps will assist emergency responders by providing clearer visualisation of incident sites within the terminal.

The upgrade is expected to be complete in 2026.

The EBI system will remain operational throughout the project to maintain full terminal protection during installation.

Supporting operational efficiency

Honeywell said the digital dashboard included in the system will improve operational insights and reduce costs.

The dashboard is intended to help decrease routine maintenance and cut down the manpower required to manage the system.

The company highlighted that the upgrade is being delivered at a time when labour shortages remain a challenge across the building safety sector.

The upgrade forms part of efforts to maintain system performance while addressing current workforce constraints.

The Smugglers Way site in London experienced a number of significant incidents within an 18-month period which caused substantial damage and shut downs.

This was identified as a growing problem, with a pending risk of a site destroying fire.

The speed of development and rising rates of damage were a particular concern.

In 2016, a new solution was deployed using FireVu detectors.

This has resulted in incidents being detected quickly, and addressed before the fire could spread to other areas of the site.
