Transportation Minister Miri Regev said the system is part of the country’s broader climate preparedness plan.

Moshe Ben Zaken, Director-General of the ministry, said early predictions are increasingly important due to global warming.

The system was developed with input from Greece and Cyprus.

According to ministry data, wildfires cause around 15 days of delays each summer.

The ministry said the tool will help protect passengers and reduce disruption across Israel’s transport network.

Safety Technology International (STI) has introduced its G3 and GF push button series across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), following their earlier deployment in the United States.

According to STI, the new series is designed for fire, access control and intrusion systems and was first showcased at Intersec 2025.

STI reported that early adopters include major infrastructure projects in the Middle East, such as airports and stadiums.

Visual accountability through integrated camera technology

The company stated that a defining feature of the G3 and GF range is an optional built-in IP camera designed to support visual identification and accountability.

STI said the camera provides eye-level footage of individuals interacting with the device, which it explained helps address limitations of overhead CCTV in capturing identifying features when hats or hoods are worn.

It added that the camera captures footage before, during and after button activation, which supports incident analysis and helps deter misuse.

Fire and security applications with regional compliance

STI explained that the G3 is suitable for access control and security use, while the GF is intended for fire alarm integration.

Both devices are made from impact-resistant polycarbonate and offer operational variants such as Momentary, Key-to-Reset and Turn-to-Reset.

Protective covers, available with or without built-in sounders, comply with recommendations in BS 5839-1:2017, which advises the use of covers to reduce false alarms.

STI confirmed that the GF model is UL-listed, a factor it noted is particularly relevant to the Middle East, where UL certification is commonly required for fire safety systems.

Supporting UK site readiness and Martyn’s Law compliance

The company highlighted that the introduction of the G3 and GF series aligns with new requirements under the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, known as Martyn’s Law.

According to STI, the optional IP camera can support documentation requirements under the law by capturing footage that aids incident detection, lockdown activation and evacuation planning.

It added that these capabilities may assist venues in demonstrating efforts to improve site readiness and reduce vulnerability to potential threats.

The legislation is currently in its implementation phase.

Technical specifications and industry response

STI confirmed that the G3 model uses a DPDT (2 Form C) switch and the GF uses an SPDT (Form C) switch, both rated for 30 VAC/VDC at 5 A.

It stated that the optional IP camera supports a 180-degree diagonal view, 5MP resolution at 30 frames per second, and is powered via 12VDC.

The company said that feedback from Intersec attendees in the Middle East has been positive, with security professionals expressing interest in the products’ potential to reduce call point misuse and improve alarm management.
